Default FA: WWII German Anti-Aircraft Range Indicator in Case

WWII German Anti-Aircraft Range Indicator in Case

This WWII German Anti-Aircraft Range indicator Device is in its original
leather case and in excellent condition. I do not know exactly how it was
used, but it has several scales for measuring distances and sliding
indicators. Any help in the description would be appreciated. The device is
all steel construction and measures about 14 inches long. There are 2
straight arms with numbers. An adjustable indicator with (tick marks) slides
up and down each of these arms. The arms have measurements from (3) to (45).
The scale on the arms is (1:25000). These arms connect to two large circular
wheels that also have numbers. These wheels are about 4 ½ inches in
diameter. These wheels have measurements from (0-32) and (32-64). Again,
there is a geared mechanism to (zero-in) for fine adjustments. This device
is marked, (Gebruder Haff, G.M.B.H., Pfronten, 1283). The device fits into a
black leather case. The front has a bungee-cord type latch. There are metal
D-rings on each side of the case for hooking a shoulder strap. The backside
has 2 large belt loops. The case is marked on the backside (Gebruder Haff,
G.M.B.H.,Ptronten, 1938). There is also an Eagle stamping with the letters
(WaA 47). This is in excellent condition with no missing, bent, or broken
pieces. All dials and linkages work properly. There is no rust or corrosion.
Looking at the device and the case, it looks like it may never have been
issued, or if it was, never saw much use. The felt on the inside of the case
shows no wear. Again, I do not know exactly what this is but I believe it is
for calculating/computing distances for anti-aircraft firing.
