The cent is constructed by holding down the 'alt'-key and
then the numericals 0162. The Yen is 'alt' + 0165, the
Pound is 'alt' + 0163. But no way of writing the Euro
symbol.

Probably alt +0178. Microsoft added the Euro symbol to their Codepage
1252 at that point. Whether your fonts have a Euro symbol is a different
question.

No, unfortunately not. On my pc alt+0178 gives any number
in the second power.

Oops, I was thinking it was an Octal code, and 0178 doesn't work in
Octal anyway. I was fooled by the leading 0, which most everyone else
uses to indicate an Octal number.

Try Alt + 0128.

Kaleb,

I haven't ever heard of anyone who can think in Octal!!!! Must be some IQ!
Anyway, I agree tha alt0128 will yield a Euro sign. At least on my PC it does.
Here it is in the newsgroup

€ € €

Hope these turn out looking like Euros.

Awesome! I just retired from doing computers and have used the
Altkeypad codes for years but never knew they produced different
results when predeeded by a keypad zero Alt128 vs Alt0128. Thanks!

I have just learned two other options.
'ctrl+alt+e' and 'AltGr+e"

The result in both cases are ?

For HTML-use the code is said to be &euro

I don't see the Euro sign, and this in both postings. Strange.

Here are several Euro signs from my PC (using a Swiss keyboard):
????????????????. I have sent them as Unicode.

so I wonder what you actually see.

On my Macintosh, I see a string of Euro symbols.

So do I on my pc. How does one "construct" the Euro
symbol? The symbol is on my keybord together with
other monetary symbols, but no way of writing the Euro
symbol.

The cent is constructed by holding down the 'alt'-key and
then the numericals 0162. The Yen is 'alt' + 0165, the

Thanks Eric for the URL. Genealogy is also one of my hobbies so this is
an extra for me.
