The amp has long volume and I am thinking it is the output transformer.

If you lose one side of a 5U4 the volume will drop dramaticly. Tube
will still look good. Changing the cartride like one of the other
posters suggested is also a good idea. Again, just trying to help.

Check the bass & trebel control switches, AGC control switch & speaker
control switch ...dirty contacts and may need adjustment. Verify
continuity
with an ohm meter......GC
