This book titled (How to Identify Persian Rugs and Other Oriental Rugs), by
C. J. Delabere May is in excellent condition. The book is published by The
Studio Publications, Inc., in association with Thomas Y. Crowell Company,
New York. This is a First Copy Edition, printed in Great Britain. There is
no copyright date, but the book looks to be from the 1950-60s. The book is
152 pages and is a great reference on identifying Persian Rugs by
classifying them with regard to their type, their age, and their value.
Chapters include details on patterns and designs, details of weave and
finish, Persian rugs and their type analysis, Persian border stripes and
their patterns, a practical way to examine rugs, Caucasian Rugs, Turkish
Prayer Rugs, Central Asian Rugs, and more. There are over 27 detailed B&W
photographic plates of various types of rugs and line drawings throughout
the book of various patterns and border stripes. This is a great reference
on these rugs. The book measures 5 1/2 inches x 7 1/2 inches. It is in
excellent condition with no rips, tears, creases, or missing pages. There
are no stains and no water damage or soiling.
