Current Art Exhibitions in London in relation to Arts on Stamps
This posting is addressed to the hundreds of art stamp collectors world
wide, who are also my regular correspondents and lurkers on this group, and who might happen to be in or around London over the next couple of months. In today's London Times http://entertainment.timesonline.co....,22710,00.html there is an extensive listing by Rachel Campbell-Johnston who previews this autumn's art blockbusters, so that you can book now to beat the queues. Many of the art works displayed on either of the mentioned exhibitions are also available on stamps, of which you can see some samples on my sites. Rubens: A Master in the Making The man who was hailed in his lifetime (1577-1640) as "The painter of Princes, the Prince of painters". National Gallery, Oct 26 2005 - Jan 15 2006 http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/frame-Rubens01.htm Henri Rousseau: Jungles in Paris A Sunday painter who insisted that professional training could corrupt. Tate Modern, Nov 3 2005 - Feb 5 2006 http://www.tate.org.uk http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/fr...ssionism05.htm Self-Portraits: Renaissance to Contemporary A huge range of artists including Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Joshua Reynolds, William Hogarth, Angelica Kauffman, Chuck Close, Gerhard Richter, and Jan van Eyck. National Portrait Gallery Oct 20 2005 - Jan 29 2006 http://npg.org.uk http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/fr...gh-General.htm http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/fr...01-General.htm http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/frame-Hogarth.htm Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec Edgar Degas was a master of composition, most famous for painting dancers. Toulouse-Lautrec was a Post-Impressionist, who depicted life in the smoky bars and cabaret clubs of fin-de-siècle Paris. Other painters included are Pierre Bonnard, Walter Richard Sickert, Whistler and Sidney Starr. Tate Britain, Oct 5 2005 - Jan 15 2006 http://www.tate.gov.uk http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/frame-Degas.htm http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/fr...ssionism04.htm Your stamp collections will be a lasting memory of these remarkable exhibitions, and will provide you with your very own virtual museum, as well as invaluable write-ups for your collection. -- Best regards Ann Mette Heindorff (Mette) http://www.heindorffhus.dk ------ Outgoing messages.checked with Norton AV |
