YOU'RE the one who killed this newsgroup, Noodles, with your psychotic behavior and eBay frauds. 8TH is doing quite nicely, thanks very much...and we're 100% Charlie Nudo free! |

His stuff's misaligned, not serviced properly and he's an incompetent attempt at a technician. Avoid any name that traces back to a "tripping-to-anything", gun names, or "dynobot." They're all Charlie Nudo, our resident psychotic fraudster. |

Click he http://www.q1520radio.com/listen.html Then click the "First Time - WQMA Dialup Stream" link. That link will automatically start the download for the STREAMER program which you will need to listen. When you come back to the site later, you can follow the other steps for increased sound quality. And we'd love to take you up on your offer. Our current player is consumer grade, and not the best at all. It has a hiss above and beyond what it's supposed to have, I'm sure. We figured it would get us started at least but we'd love to start with something better. We'll mention you plenty, and if you have any current eBay auctions, we'll probably even mention them. Here's our address: WQMA 1820 West Marks Road Marks, MS 38646 Be sure to include a note (just print out this email if you want) with the player so we know it's you... Thanks again for your offer... Jason Jason sorry to have to go the "off topic" route, but, aparently, only people who use the microsoft O.S can listen to your streams. linux users are S.O.O.l. please talk to your station manager about considering a alternative streaming source that complies with open internet standards (like realnetworks realaudio, or streaming mp3, shoutcast, or even ogg vorbis), which unlike WMA, those cross platform streams & work with all O.S's. there are a growing number of people ditching windows in favor of linux just because of the security linux gives. i would like to listen to your station, however, i wont run windows just to do it. -- i have an 8 track mind My other computer is your XP box. |

The Streamer software support forum is reporting that users are having success running the software under Linux with the assistance of some other programs. I'll point you towards the support forum he http://www.streamerp2p.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1197 I don't know from personal experience how well this works. The Streamer software runs very well on WindowsXP. Our station sounds just like a CD to me with a broadband connection and mp3PRO installed. I'd love for you to try it on Linux and let us know. Hope this helps, Jason |

For production purposes, he'd be better off dubbing off 8 tracks onto CDs for air play. I'm going to make an effort not to get into any flame wars in this group. There are obviously a couple groups having a little war here, and I'm not siding with anyone. I don't even know whos right or wrong or why you are fueding. We would appreciate donations from everyone who appreciates 8-tracks. But I wanted to respond to the above. There is no need for us to dub 8-tracks onto CD's for air play. Our library has over 3,000 digital CD-quality songs on hard drive, and we play them all. We obviously have a regular heavier rotation for popular oldies, and a secondary random rotation that picks from all the rest, but you'll hear gems you don't hear on other oldies stations on WQMA OldiesRadio 1520. We're not asking for 8-tracks for a music library or for regular airplay. "8-Track Thursday" will be a special event. I'm hoping weekly, at least for a segment. We'll see what it sounds like when we actually do it. And we'll be doing the 8-track thing live. Not to celebrate the broadcast quality (or lack of) of 8-tracks, but rather to play some good music, and celebrate a very popular format no longer in use (by most). It's all meant in good fun. The quality of the music might be a little off - but we're hoping for positive feedback on the programming anyway. We're probably going to play more than one song from some tapes. Typical to the way that most people enjoyed 8-tracks at the time. Jason |
