Default Can the Rowe-AMI 100-CD changer jukebox play CDs over 80 minutes?

I'm trying to find if it's possible to program a wall-hanging Rowe-
AMI, Storm model, 100-disc unit to accept and play CD's over 80
minutes in length, or if hardware limitations prohibit it. A 79:56
disc plays fine in it; any disc over 80 minutes refuses to read and
initialize properly.

This may depend on the player used in the machine, There was the CD
pro, CDM 12 etc.

Some of the versions of these players don't like many commercial CD's,
(wont initialise and won't play them half the time) and also certain
brands of burnt CD's cause trouble like this as well. IM sure that
this list includes discs under 80 min.

You could try burning CD's of 80 minutes+ and seeing what the machine
does with them and compare this with the same brand of CDR with track
times of 79.55 etc.

I vaguely remember there was a ROM upgrade (years ago) for the CCC in
the Rowe CD machines, one of its improvements was to fix a bug
involving having a song or album length longer than a certain number
would cause some intermittent problem with the system under a certain
set of circumstances that I cant remember now.
if you dont have it, I would consider an upgrade of the CCC rom
(latest version I have seen around the traps is ver4.3).

There are also 2 versions of ROM I have seen for the mechanism control
PCB on this later model of machine too. I can find tomorrow at work
what they are.

Another thing you could do is check the menus thoroughly to see if
there is any limit on track length time.

No, I believe the system was never designed for that purpose. However,
I would suggest contacting the tech support at Rowe for a definitive
answer.
