Default R-89 AMI pre-amp problem

I have a R-88. It plays at full volume all the time. I disconnected volume control, still full blast. I know it's in pre amp board. Is there a part that usually causes this problem. I have schematic and ability, but need to know what to replace,

Thanks, Robert

As I recall disconnecting the volume control (on Rowes) will make the
machine play at full volume...some look for issues with the connections
between the volume control (10K potentiometer) and the pre-amp.

Rowe Ami amplifiers do not work in that way, a few substitute amplifiers made in the UK by Rainbow did.

I would think that you have a faulty pre-amp board or in some way you have shorted out the volume control or volume control cabling.

What happens when you remove the volume control plug from the amplifier?

Regards
Alan

It stays at full volume. I checked for short at cable and plug on amp. I thought maybe they had componet that was usually the cause. I guess mostly I was trying to save time.

Thanks, Robert
