Default need some opinions, please

I've been collecting uncirculated coins only (all U.S. denominations, except
gold). The key date coins are getting very expensive. I'm going to lower my
expectations, and turn the collection into XF or better. Is XF a good place
to start, or should it become AU, or just F and better. I know money is the
key, but also "eye candy" is important. I was just looking for opinions of
other who have been down this road.

Thanks,
Russell

In my view, the objective should be to always get a nice, problem-free coin
for the grade. There are some series where an attractive, problem-free AG-3
example comes along once in 10 years, in higher grades, once in 20 or 30, or
perhaps not in whatever time one has left. The decision can be made better
after seeing "what's out there" over a period of time.

I've always liked VF as a nice
collector grade for many US coins.

Decent detail still on the coin and
won't break the bank (some exceptions of course).
