Today's Cash Till Finds
Not exactly what you're expecting, but I think an interesting take
none the less: I bought a toy cash till today (Tom Thumb, if anyone's interested in numismatic oriented toys) and found the following bunged up in the works: 1 plastic "Patriots at the Concord Bridge" token (Diznee) 1 aluminium 1954 play dime (Tex-a-Toy) 1 alum. 10c piece (no maker) 1 alum. 50c piece (no maker) 1 CuNi 1954 markka (Finland) 1 alum. 1954 5c (Italy) 1 steel 1918 10pf (Coblenz) 2 br 1945 1c (USA) I find it interesting how old (US) play money manufacturers always included 50c pieces. I guess they were simply reflecting the fact that the things were actually used. I can't recall ever seeing one in a play money set when I was a kid - but I've noted that educational money makers are including them as well as Apollo 11th dollars and diznee dollars.
