thinking of buying nsm satellite 200 broken???
i am thinking of buying a satellite 200 off of a guy but it isnt working. first of all he is selling me two boxes that need work, a satellite 200 and a nsm hit e120 both for $100. the satellite he said had a blown fuse and when he replaced it he said there was smoke coming from the main control box. the displays all light up and the top light works, but the outer ring doesnt light up and the juke doesnt play. can anyone help steer me in the right direction. should i buy it. i dont mind spending some money but if its not fixable then i'll forget it, thanks, tom

Up here in Brooklyn we have a bridge that's in need of repair but very fixable. Someone's always trying to sell it only to find out it's allready sold. I own it ! Bought it many times ! Interested ??? Comes with a Satellite 2000 and an NSM E 120 as an added bonus. $99.95. Think about it. Too good to be true ? You're right. Same with the swindle someone's trying to pull with the jukes. Try offering him a brige instead of the $100. ?????? |

There's way too many vultures that prey upon the unknowing and trusting. I couldn't begin to tell you how many "good deals" I've come to straighten out for other people. Hope this is not one of them. As for NY'ers (city slickers), I agree with you for the most part. Good luck ! |

Unless you a 1 Absolutely desperate for this particular model. 2 Will go to any lengths to get it. 3 Need parts from these machines to fix similar units. 4 Have substantial experience in repair and overhaul of these units. (obviously not, since you are asking us). Just about anything is fixable or restore-able, however, its just a question of how much money, time and effort do you want to put into this proposed project ? I wouldn't bother with it personally, smoke from the control box, sounds like "power transformer" which is probably hard to get, expensive to ship - due to weight. The few of the 70-80's type 45 NSM's that I have had the misfortune to have been pressured into looking at over the years usually have seized up mechanism (the moving record player/changer part) slide rails, as well as slide rails inside the player assembly - due to hardened or "gummy" lubricants. It wont come apart to allow proper cleaning and re- lubing. If the main drive motor is burnt out, its not fixable (might be by motor specialists). One good point though, we junked an NSM mechanism years back, and the steel bar used for holding the popularity wheels was found to be an excellent cane toad population control tool. . Much easier to carry around than the traditional house brick method, and long enough to avoid being sprayed by their poisonous venom. There are other hassles involved too, they just arent a nice machine to work on compared to a Rowe for example. (wont comment on later model Rock-Ola or seeburg as I havent worked on any) |

I'm a big fan of upgrading older machines so I'm always looking for jukeboxes that are reasonably priced. In the last couple of years I've used the Juketime retrofit path (www.juketime.com) on a couple of jukeboxes and the results have been great. These conversions have eliminated all the older hardware so maintenance cost has dropped to almost nothing. In addition when I walk over to the jukebox to play something it always works (a whole lot less embarrassing when I have friends over and they want to listen to the jukebox). Conversion was fairly straight forward and it didn't take a lot of time. Anyway, I just wanted to provide insight into other options if you decide to pick up those two jukeboxes. Good luck with you decision. Steve |
