Default Seeburg SMC2 Speakers

I have a Seeburg SMC2 Phoenix juke. It has speakers installed in the
columns that looked to me like factory installation. When I say
speakers, I mean 4x10 car type speakers with paper cones, and these
have a small tweater in the middle. So, I'm flipping through the parts
manual for it and I notice it had speaker horns in the exploded view.
So my question is, did this come with horns originally and someone
changed them or did some come with paper cone speakers? Also, if one
found the horns non-working, can they be repaired?

thanks in advance
Matt

Matt;

I'm assuming you have the Stern/Seeburg SMC2, with the orange speaker
columns. Some of them were build using the speakers you mention.
Seeburg's new Chief Engineer (who replaced their long-time Chief
Engineer for a short time during this period) did not like horn
speakers, and made the change. Some production (notably the early
ones built shortly after Stern took over) used the horns, the rest of
the SMC2 produciton run I believe used the ones you describe.

Cheers,

Tony Miller
