Costa Rica to Issue a New Series of Banknotes

Costa Rica plans to issue a new series of banknotes starting next
year.

The first of the new notes will be the 20,000 Colones note to be
released on March of 2010. The entire series will be completed by
January 2011.

One major change is that each note will be different in size, the
smallest being the note with the smallest domination. For instance the
1,000 Colones will be 67mm by 125mm, incrementing in lenghth to 160mm
for the 50,000 Colones note.

Each note will also be in different color, the 1,000 note being red,
while the 50,000 note will be "morado" or purple.

The new series will also feature a new family of personalities.
