Seeburg G consistant problem
A friend emailed me this about a Seeburg HF100G
Does someone know the exact problem area .. mech , selector chassis or keyboard ? The machine is hundreds of miles away . Here is the message .. problem I think will be easy to fix if we can get it figured out. What happens is that it will not make any selections when the machine is first turned on in the day. No record in the mech , it just sits and spins. You have to take the mech cover off and flip the lever bar up and then the record from the slot comes out and it plays the record and continues to play any and all selections. Then the next day or 5 days later, it is an instant repeat of the same problems. Thanks ! |

When you say it "won't make any selections", that imply the credit unit. But then when you say it "brings a record up and plays (without a hitch) when you flip the clutch lever manually by hand with the mech cover removed", it sounds like it could be a bind in the clutch or trip mechanism. The troubleshooting guide in the C manual says when the record flywheel "sits and spins" without a record, it could be a bind in the carriage rollers, the #1 clutch adjustment may be adjusted too far in (causing a bind), contact block binds in guide rail (of pinbank), or selection playing indicator is binding. Since it seems to work for quite a few records after you trip the clutch release lever on the mech by hand, I would say (without being able to see it) the clutch and mech are in need of lubrication/oiling. There are four or five areas one can put oil in the Seeburg mech where the oil will "flow through" and lubricate the mechanism as it runs. If this is the case, your problem will be gone as the oil "circulates" once you've oiled it appropriately. The manual will show you where to oil it. It's also possible you could have an additional problem that needs attention after this is fixed; that is, if it's not giving you credits. I've seen what looks like one problem to be really 2 or even 3 as one gets "fixed" enough to work, the other problem will be better "isolated" once the oil is running through the mechanism properly. Good luck, Rob |

He explained it better here .
The last time ( credit ) the machine is played and the song is over it stops and the record stays loose up in the player ( normal ) The machine is then shut off for the day . Apon power on the next day or 2 or 3 ... a coin is inserted , make selection light goes on .. song buttons are pressed and the record that was seting up in the player loads back into the rack ... then the mech just sits righ where it is .. spinning .. Then you have to flip the clutch lever by hand once then the mech goes to the record you just selected & plays it and continues working playing all selections fine all night by itself . The above happens every time its started after one day or more shut off |
