Default Rockola model 452 console jukebox $300-is it worth it?

hello all- my first post here, need some help/opinions

I'm a vinyl, 78, 8-track tape collector actually, and on a recent hunt
ran across a Rockola model 452 console style jukebox for sale.

My idea of a jukebox was those huge chrome and glass units full of
bright lights, etc. This one looks more like the old-style floor
model console stereos of the 1960-70's period.

It has everything inside just like the more upscale models, i.e.
accepts money, selector buttons, 80 record capacity, etc. But visually
it's not exactly stunning in appearance.

What was the original purpose of this machine, was it a "low end" low
cost model ?? It works, I tested it, sounds ok too, the guy wants $300
for it, it'll cost me another $25 to get it home.

Good investment, or not so good ?? And why that drab picture on the
inside lid ??

thanks in advance

If it's not that physically appealing to you, maybe it's not worth it.
Would you be happy with it? I believe it's from 1972 or 1973... Probably
all solid state inside. (I have a 454 from 1974, which is what I am going
by.)

Personally, I never cared for the console models. They are just too boring
to look at, even if they do sound good.

I think I would pass on that one. I figure it's worth about $100
maybe. Much better choices out there at the price you mentioned, like
the late 60's Seeburgs or Wurlitzers.

I show that to be a 1973 model here is the link to the archive page

Is it worth $300.00? I wouldn't buy it. It's too ugly for my taste.
However, some people like different things

Hi Trippin',
funny to see you over here.....use to seeing you on the "track" side
of the net Anyway, as stated earlier, it's all a matter of taste.
Also, there are nicer, more "Juke" looking units out there for that
price (may or may not work though)...you may be lucky to find a
"visable" mech unit for around $500 (not in the best shape, but who
knows). As for that "furniture" style, they had their place, like in
lounges and "higher" class bars/ restuarants that didn't want the
flashy look of the traditional jukes to take away from their
"amiance". So the furniture style would just blend in to the decore
instead of stick out. Wonder how that "not to be too seen" idea worked
for play stimulation/ how it affected the money take comparred to a
"want to be seen juke"? Rick.
