I will take your word for it as the auction freezes netscape. Billy

Anyway in a nutshell it is a cleaned and pressed North of Scotland £5 from
1943 which when I looked at the auction had 8 bids and was bidioted up to
$329.90.

ala Scottishnotes - Andymsp stuff.

I does however raise the age old question as to what one collects...the
design / art of the note or the relative "virginity" of the note.

I prefer virgins. In banknotes you canna do the Madonna "Like a virgin"
thing, once it is lost, it is lost.

To borrow from a famous writer "to wash or not to wash, that is the
question"..........and for the avoidance of doubt I am talking of notes!

And to quote same said writer, or whom purports to be him...

...."Get thee to a nunnery"

I wonder what price would have been achieved if the description said

"washed
and pressed" instead of XF+???

A percentage less, an I say only a percentage, because lots of people could
seemingly care less.

Going by the prices at the Austin and Pringle auctions, where many notes
were obviously washed just looking at the pics in the catalogue, the
prices may not have been any lower. :-) Billy

Yep, an impressive price.

In view of the value added to this note by washing and pressing I am going
to wash all my notes (UNC or not!) and list them on eBay. Well perhaps not.

the description says pressed.

idk about morons, but i always read the description. if u don't know what
your selling me (ie, if your title / description / pic aren't in synch),
then i ain't buying -- and something like "pressed" sure as heck tells me to
go away....then again, i'd never go to $300, since i'm not into that kind of
money (just looking, thank you very much).
