"Reid Goldsborough" wrote in message ... .... I read no more than the first couple of lines of this one post, .... So, bye. Thanks Reid. It is uncommonly gracious of you to admit defeat so easily. I will try to be equally gracious in victory. |

Allen McBroom spoke thusly... So the above snippets were gleaned from posts in thias thread. None of them friendly, none helpful. The irony of it is, the original post (like last SATURDAY, y'all) contained this: "You see this over and over. People argue and argue their points well beyond reason and common sense, or they stop arguing their points and start attacking personally those they're debating," Reid, you said the above, in msg 511496. You've helped make this true in this thread. Give it up. Just drop it. Why drop it now? Until that point, it was a thread of limited interest and had 3 people who posted (me being one because I have read up on google's behavior a lot and have a website) to it and had less than a dozen replies. After that point, it has been engaged by about 20 posters and has had 50 or more replies. A roaring success in a Pavlovian kind of way. :-) When I was in the First Grade, one of my classmates, Bobbie Evans, showed me a behavior I had never seen before. It was a tactic of starting some kind of mischief and then getting it to snowball, then running to grab a teacher, janitor, any adult and run screaming, pointing "Look! Look! at what those kids are doing! I bet Rachel Michaels started it!!" I was floored and amazed that anyone could act like that. What a hypocrite! What a liar! He did that for months until some kid from Third Grade beat the crap out of him. I think they sent Bobbie to reform school when he was like 10 years old. A sociopath. I'm convinced that today he has a steady job. Alan 'in the prison laundry' |

Alan 'in the prison laundry' More years ago than I should admit, when I was about 8 or 9, me and me classmates used to line up at the urinal and compete furiously with each other to gain maximum height on the urinal splashback. Nowadays, anxious to maintain some sort of decorum, I would refer to that as a "urinating" contest - but I'm sure we had a far less gracious term for it then. Seems kinda funny that another gormless child should be engaging me in another such contest some four decades later. 'I won, though!' |

I have copied the post below in full purely to allow it remain archived in
Google. Don't bother proceeding if you expect a logical discourse. "Reid Goldsborough" wrote in message ... On Thu, 06 Nov 2003 03:16:16 GMT, "Nick Knight" wrote: Begs this question: If he "knocks down" the last one, as he sees it, what the hell will he ever post about? Ah, but as most would answer and as I already have: Who Cares??!!! rhetorical Here's another example of how A.Gent, the self-described "still.cranky" one, is just another gutter fighter, just lashing out with meaningless words. All this ties in to the concept of misinformation on the Internet. People like him don't care about the truth or falsity of what they say. They just say it, just barf out the words. There are others like him, of course. Because of its nature, the online world has a disproportionate share of these junk talkers, though most people online are considerably more rational. Among the voluminous junk he has said is his latest comment that the coin Web sites I've created are amateurish. This is much like an earlier comment from someone here who said that the articles I write for coin publications are written by others and that everybody who has ever responded to one of my online posts should get bylines for these articles. Nobody but me has written a single sentence of any of these articles, and for information I've relied on far more than posts to this newsgroup. It's all idiocy, idiotic flaming, with no thought given to the veracity of what is said. A.Gent says what I do is amateurish. The word "amateurish" has two main meanings, done for payment and done well. I've been writing for a living for 20 years, have written many hundreds of articles, two books, cowritten several others, have won two national writing awards and several small ones, write a nationally syndicated column, have written speeches and video scripts and radio commercials and so on. Does that mean I think I'm God's gift to writing or that I don't make mistakes or that I can't improve or that other writers aren't better? Of course not. But I get paid for what I do, and over the years have necessarily picked up some expertise gathering, evaluating, and expressing information. Though I'm sure I could have done a better job of expressing this. And I suppose I'm focusing too much lately on the junk of this one person, giving it play it doesn't deserve, so it's time to killfile him, something I should have done earlier. -- Email: (delete "remove this") Coin Collecting: Consumer Protection Guide: http://rg.ancients.info/guide Glomming: Coin Connoisseurship: http://rg.ancients.info/glom Bogos: Counterfeit Coins: http://rg.ancients.info/bogos |
