Default Diamine Inks

In response to Bernie's query about Stone Inks, I am replying under a
new thread. I got finger trouble when I initiated what I originally
thought was a new thread but then found it appearing under the thread
"Mont Blanc P146". Sorry about that, tap1n, whoever you are.

Stone Inks are not a name I am familiar with. The name reminds me of
Joule's Stone Ales, though, which I remember from the early 1960s,
though they had been around a long time before that. Sadly I guess
there's no connection! There'd be no straight lines with that in my
pen...

Sorry not to be more help.

Best wishes

Does anyone know if Diamine may be the same ink as the old
Stone Writing Ink?

According to article in the February issue of "Stylophiles"*,
the manufacturer goes back to the 1860s, moved to Liverpool in
1925, and the name Diamine was adopted in 1964. The company
began making "specialty inks" to the detriment of their own
brand. The Diamine brand with the original logo was recently
resurrected for the current inks. So it is at least possible
that Stone Writing Ink was manufactured by Diamine.

*"A Diamine of COLOR!" by Dyas A. Lawson, in "Stylophiles" Vol
1, No. 2.

Hope this helps,

I saved an old post from Allen Besser who indicated that the Stone Ink were
made by an entity called "Specialty Inks." I could never find anything
about them, or anything on the WWW. Now it appears we may have a
connection.

BTW, I have a hunch (based on bottles, colors, and previous messages) that
YardOLed ink may be also made by this same company.

Just to avoid possible confusion, I added quotation marks
around "specialty inks" since it was taken directly from the
article. The entire quote is, "They were making a lot of
specialty inks and as a result their own brand had practically
died." There are no other mentions of these specialty inks in
the article. Hope I didn't send you down a blind alley.
