Bank of Scotland notes.
Are Bank of Scotland notes accepted in England, Wales, and N. Ireland? Also,
does anyone know of any other country (or part of a country) where the central bank or government isn't the sole currency issuing authority? |

Bank of Scotland notes are generally accepted in other parts of the UK, however it is up to the person receiving the note in a transaction. Most will accept them. The same goes for English notes in Scotland. Irish notes are generally only accepted near ports on the western side of Britain, otherwise they are generally avoided. Scotland has three banks issuing paper money, Northern Ireland has four banks, and Hong Kong has three. The only other recent issuer(1981) was Banque Internationale de Luxembourg in Luxembourg, however these are now obsolete. No doubt the 'Mericans will buy them all up.

Macau also has two, namely: - Banco Da China (Bank of China) - Banco Nacional Ultramarino (A Portuguese bank) It's a similar scenario to Hong Kong, where British banks like HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank are still printing notes despite the change of sovereignty. |
