Nice gesture ;-)

It is wrong, left should be right, heads should roll. No road access - just a helicopter pad. A wild bit of BC. In NZ all the lighthouses have been unmanned for years (or unwomaned - the first light keeper in NZ was a woman). Most of the old keepers houses have gone and the modern providers are often happy with a low mounted light. As a consequence there are few houses left and some of the unused towers are not being maintained adequately. Does anyone do any better with their heritage? http://www.100megsfree3.com/glaw/lighthouse/index.htm |

No, here in Holland as well the direction we're going is unmanned. There was a bit of an uproar 3 years ago about that when a (the last?) lighthouse in the north of the country was 'decapitated' , with the argument that spotting ships in distress would no longer be possible.
