"Mabie in America" CD book
Hi Everyone,
When I received my copy of David Moak's "Mabie In America" CD, his Mabie, Todd & Bard history, I couldn't wait to put it on the computer. This project was already great the first time around, but now it's even better. The whole book has been re-organized to make it more readable and cohesive, and it must have been an enormous job. The early sections were much expanded, and the genealogical information has almost been completed for the Bard and Todd families. Some genealogical sections of the Appendices have been dropped, but they are now available throughout the text where applicable. At first I thought it was just me, and that I was seeing more pictures than before, but David confirmed that he put a lot more pictures in this edition, an increase of about 50%. Also, all the earlier pictures were re-shot and reformatted. There are certainly more rhr items this time! David was fortunate enough to locate pictures of J. S. Bard and all the major figures in the Mabie family. Now all he needs to do is get pictures of Edward Todd and his son. He also intends to trace the Todd family genealogy to the present. The advertisements section in the Appendices was greatly expanded, but sadly, he chose to cull the rest of the ephemera, the sections devoted to pen boxes, book marks and other paper ephemera, 3-dimensional display pieces, display cases, and ink bottles. After having redone all the photography on the writing instruments, he was a little daunted by reorganizing and rephotographing the ephemera from the first edition and adding what he had collected since. He intends to redo these sections like the advertisements page, with thumbnails and the option of scrolling. Until then, you have to have both CDs to get the full view. He is hoping at some point to have one final version of the book. At that point he will try to find a good means of including everything. This will be quite a while down the road, though. The second edition is almost two years after the first one, and the final one will be at least as far away. I can hardly wait. All in all, another great production, David. Way to go! Sincerely, George. |

Kind of like upgrading your software? -- Best regards, T-H Lim (aka Free Citizen) |

Good luck to the PCA. -- Best regards, T-H Lim (aka Free Citizen) |
