Default Major Brag

I was putting my washing on the line in the garden this morning, when I
heard a plane flying over. Soon after, and much to my surprise I heard a
loud swishing noise then a bang. I went to investigate and found at the
bottom of my garden, a book. On further investigation I found it to be a 1st
edition copy of Treasure Island. You can imagine my further astonishment
when I studied the book more closely, and found it had been signed by Long
John Silver using his wooden stump. I have checked the signature on the
"Signed by Stump.Com" website, and it appears to match exactly.
Good luck with your own finds.
Best regards
Diane

Since it was Robert Louis Stevenson and not Long John Silver who was the
author, wouldn't that be a blatant case of fraud or "plagerism"?

But good for you. I've only started to read this newsgroup last month,
but I must say I've already found all the braggings tiresome. Or maybe I'm
just jealous.

By the way, I was raised by elves.

I'd call that a pirated edition.

There haven't been that many brags, compared to past months. Heck, I never
even mentioned the F/F first of Robert Olen Butler's "A Good Scent from a
Strange Mountain" I won on eBay for $6.25

By the way, I was raised by elves.

So did you see them or fold?

Diane; I have to ask - what is "50 Years in Stepney" about and why
would someone want to buy it?

Damn! I should have thought of that crack first.

Time to unsubscribe then!

Well, this is more a query than a brag: I just bought a very good copy
for a song of _Institutions of Intelligence_ by Bertram Morris [(1969) Studies
in Educational Theory of the John Dewey Society, Number 6; Ohio University
Press]. I see it priced between $20-$30 on Bookfinder. But how much can I
*really* sell it for, eh? Anyone?

By the way, I was raised by elves.

So did you see them or fold?

Hi Art

50 years in Stepney is a fascinating account of the author's time growing up
in the most deprived area of Londons East End. So There. I suppose it is of
interest to anyone who lived in the area, or who studies social change. Or
maybe they just bid on it because they felt pity on me.

Diane
