Flaking Leather Cover
What is the best way to preserve a book with leather boards that is flaking
away with every touch? Should it be bagged or is there a way to preserve the decayed leather in such a way that the book may be safely handled? Thanks. "Justice is as strictly due between neighbor nations as between neighbor citizens. A highwayman is as much a robber when he plunders in a gang, as when single; and a nation that makes an unjust war is only a great gang." --Benjamin Franklin |

I've used Cellugel (available from University Products and Gaylord) for the problem generally known as "red rot" or "red decay": http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/don/dt/dt2800.html William M.
