Yesterday, July 12th, I received a very nice get-well card from a friend in
Florida, franked with two recent stamps, which according to Virtual Stamp
Club were issued on July 10th. But the cover was cancelled in Florida on
July 7th -- three days prior to being released !!
http://cjoint.com/data/hntXW71R6d.htm

How come ??

The stamps shown on VSC have proposed face values of 41 and 59 cents, and
the colour green (proposed value 42 cents) is on the final issue replaced by
a greyish blue. Otherwise the stamps are identical with those shown on VSC.

This idea of wedding hearts is totally new to me, but is quite nice. Who is
supposed to wear such hearts? The bride or the maid(s)??

Many thanks to the person who sent the card -- you know who you are :-))

Mette

Ah my dear Mette, I hate to burst your bubble but to clear the fog the
Wedding Hearts had a first day issue in Washington, D.C. on June 10,
2008.
Previously there was a similiar design and colors featuring stylized
Doves. Both issues came from booklets, one book for each face value. I
do not have my cataloga at hand so I can't give you an exact date but
think it may be March 3, 2006.

Looks like I opened my mouth before enguaging my brain.
I still do not have catalogs at hand but in checking my US Commin
design collection I find the Wedding Hearts there with an issue date
of June 27, 2007, Scott 4151 (41 cents) and 4152 (58 cents).. The
mentioned Wedding Doves are Scott 3998 (39 cents) and 3999 (63 cents).
The May 3, 2006 issue date is correct.
There was a Hearts (42 cents) and a Love: All Heart (42 cents) issued
in Washington D. C. on June 10th this year. No Scott numbers for these
yet.

Ok, I went to the office and got my catalogs. Here is the official
listing:Mette's posted stamp imager:
Wedding Heart 41 cents issued June 27, 2007. Scott Number 4151
Wedding Heart 58 cents issued June 27, 2007. Scott number 4152
New Stamps:
Wedding Heart 42 cents, issued June 10, 2008. No Scott number yet.
Wedding Heart 59 cents, issued June 10, 2008 . No Scott number yet.
These are identical to the 2007 stamps except for face value. Nancy
Stahl designed botj designs of vines that formthe shape of a heart.
The light green and pale peach stamps were created especially for
wedding invitations and response cards.
An additional Heart stamp was also issued. It features a human form
carring a very large red heart. Sorry, my scanner is not working.
Never did figure out how to work the thing.
( Love: All Heart: 42 cents, issued June 10, 2008 No Scott number
yet )
