Too bad GM hasn't figured out how to build that quality into their misshapen
vehicles, Einstein.

Hey, when they figure out that trucks ain't the place to be, maybe they'll
stop shuttering US auto manufacturing plants.

Boogity, boogity, boogity!!!!

Who cares? NASCAR's for losers like you. Toyota rightly skips NASCAR
and concentrates on the BIG money circuits. And how about Indy? Honda
has run GM completely out of contention. GM can't afford racing
programs anymore...they're tanked.

Or F1, where real money is spent.

Toyota's F1 V8 engine produces 740 hp from 2.4 Litres, no turbo.

You couldn't, even in the '50s. Chevrolet Division products (when GM
actually HAD divisions, something that Roger Smith got rid of)
routinely showed up at the bottom of all reliability surveys done by
Consumers Union way back into the late '50s. However, J.D. Power &
Associates has the evidence that ALL US car quality has risen rather
dramatically. There is now no perceived "initial quality differences"
between American and Japanese cars in the lower priced lines,
according to them. However, most car buyers these days are boneheads,
and wouldn't know a good car from bad, anyway, and only want something
that'll run without any maintenance for about 3 years until it konked
out and they can get another one. With the Bush economy now headed
toward the Great Depression depths, that will change...you either buy
and maintain, or you walk.

Hey, when they figure out that trucks ain't the place to be, maybe they'll
stop shuttering US auto manufacturing plants. snip

Well, at least Ford's got that message. The real villain here is Wall
Street. Ford announced it was shutting down shifts on River Rouge's
truck line, and the stock took a header. DUH...that's exactly what
they SHOULD be doing, something that GM hasn't figured out yet.

That's why there are literally TONS of Suburbans and Tahoes sitting
around on lots, going out the door for wholesale just to get rid of
them, and GM's still building the ****ing things. Ditto the poorly
designed Chevy pickups...dogs, although as a dog lover, I wouldn't
denigrate the dogs that much.

Ford will clean house with the Fiesta Hybrid, due out next year. There
will also be a "plug-in" variant, which will one-up Toyota, which has
been avoiding any plug-in variant like the plague. Owners who buy a
plug-in conversion for their Priuses (Prii?) lose warranty protection
for their trouble. Credit Southern California Edison for pushing Ford
into that area.

However, initial owner reports on the new Malibu are unexpectedly
good, and many of these are former Toyota owners. However, it's way
too little, way too late...GM should have been doing this 20 years
ago, when they still had a chance. Chalk up another US business
failure to arrogant and incompetent US management!

Meanwhile, the Republican jerkoffs at Cerberus are just rearranging
deck chairs on the Titanic while Chrysler sits and spins, doing
absolutely nothing new for the foreseeable future.

Gee, Bozo, why not use the year 2008 so far instead of ancient
history. 2007 was Toyota's first in Nascar and it was a feeling out
process. Thy had only one main team and no major drivers. There was
also a new car (COT) for all teams so it was an impossibility that
Toyota would do well . Flash forward to 2008. Toyota is leading the
manufacturers in points. Their driver - Kyle Busch - is leading the
Race to the Chase. Gibbs Racing drives Toyotas. Toyota is doing very
well in the Nationwide Series also. Seems to me they're doing okay and
it's now up to Chevy, Ford, and Dodge to catch them. And so it goes.

This past Friday on a quick trip down to Grand Forks and a side
visit to the mall and a pet store, I was surprised to see two Springer
Spaniel pups for sale. Not as popular a breed as many years ago (no stats on
that just going by observation) but always nice to see these fine hunting
dogs. Well, actually fun to see about any breed of puppy, eh?

Aye. I still miss my buddy Buster, who died of canine lymphoma, to
which Cocker Spaniels are somewhat prone. He almost beat it with
chemotherapy, but immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (IMT) reared its
ugly head again (he got it two years prior from a freaky tick bite, we
theorize) and finished him off. Still too painful to get another pal
yet, even now.
