Old Francs, Pounds, banknotes and coins

I would try and find a tourist (from the UK!) ... Swap for some
dollars. You could also think of donating them to some charity. Unless
the condition is very good it's unlikely that anyone would 'buy' them.

I also recently found about 500 French francs, mostly in those fat,
brownish 10-franc coins - are these no longer of use even in France?

France no longer uses Francs. It's part of Euroland now.

I
don't think they're old enough to be valuable as collector's items,
but I'd like to get rid of them, too. I haven't been in Europe in 13
years and am not planning another trip, so any advice would be
appreciated.

There's always ebay...
