Seeburg Electra question...help please

I have a Seeburg Electra. It scans and picks up disks correctly, however
immediately after the pickup, it returns the disk without playing. I ask the
great Juker Gods for their assistance and give thanks in advance.

Check that the Cancel button is not stuck or jammed in and also that the
wiring to it is not shorted. Check the cancel switch actuator for proper
adjustment and that it moves freely, check the wires on the tone arm cancel
switch that they are not shorted. Does the clamp arm clamp the record to the
turntable before it cancels the record ? It could also be a sticky clutch
not changing quick enough from transfer to play mode. There are many other
things that can cause this situation these are the first ones I thought of
however. Have not worked on that series of Seeburgs for many years.
