My father, Phil Smith of Phil's coins located in Chattanooga, TN was robbed
following leaving the FUN show in Orlando, FL last week. Thankfully, my
mother and father were not injured, but the loss was a great one. We have
set up a reward for any info leading to the arrest and conviction of those

Stolen Coins Alert


The coins listed below were stolen from Southern Gold Society member Phil
Smith (Phil's Coins) while returning home from the Florida United
Numismatists Coin Show. The theft occurred on Saturday, January 10, 2004 in
Valdosta, Georgia at approximately 7:30 PM. The coins were stolen from his
automobile. Phil did not incur any physical harm. The coins were contained
in a large and a small brown briefcase. Checks and cash were contained in a
red bank deposit bag from Fulton National Bank in Atlanta.

wow, you wonder if those guys knew what they got, or if the stuff will be
ditched or sold at flea markets. it would seem that is they go to any
honest dealer he will smell something fishy and alert the police.

I hope they catch the scum that did
this and that the coins are recovered.

It looks like a classic case of someone
following a car all the way from the show
and they made their move when the
time looked right.

It is possible they cased out the dealer
at the show and knew exactly what they
were after.

honest dealer he will smell something fishy and alert the police.


My guess is that he was followed and the thieves knew what they could get.
The slabbed coins will probably be cracked out and disbursed throughout the
ring that set him up.
