Per Rodney's recent Foochow messages, I was sorting through some China
and these 2 examples popped up. The timing was right.

Well, the sail on the left most area protrudes like Rodney's does. I
have a sneaky suspicion this was part of the original design. On the
1 Cent, however, I have a perfect "N" on the ONE, whereas Rodney's may
be a plate flaw.

Comments?

That confirms the engravers error, Tracy.
The spot on mine was a random imperfection
caused by dirt or paper, doubtful if consistant.

Good scans, I can add to my few issues

Thanks. Still getting used to my new scanner. Seems to want to scan
them lightly and I have to add a bit back into them with Photoshop.
Not enough for a shade, but just enough.

I'll work around the setting a bit more. Bad pun...

I have a LOT of scans to post and some of them Aussie, so beware!
