http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2192503814
These three unique items concern the early history of IBM, when it was called The Tabulating Machine Company: 1. A letter of contract dated 1916 between Fred M. Carroll, "inventor and designer", and The Tabulating Machine Company signed by company president Thomas J. Watson (later president of IBM) and Fred. M. Carroll. They were friends and colleagues who had worked together at the National Cash Register Co. 2. A letter to Fred Carroll's widow dated 1965 re the unveiling of his portrait in the IBM Technical Hall of Fame, signed by Thomas Watson, Jr., who was then CEO of IBM. 3. A newspaper obituary of Fred M. Carroll, inventor of the Carroll high-speed press and other machines at IBM, who died a multi-millionaire from his patents and holdings of IBM stock. |
