Could those here who know please advise me if there is anything special
to removing a Pelikan nib from its feed? Early as well as recent nibs. Thanks |

I am trying to find out if there is anything special to removing the
nib itself from the unit that unscrews from the pen. I mix and match barrels and nib/feed units so much that I wish I had kept track of what pen they came on. I need to do metal work on a Pelikan nib that will involve getting it off of the feed. |

Thanks all you need to do is drill the right sized hole in a piece of wood and tap the feed out with something that won't damage it. -- I wonder if I should put myself in ESCROW!! |

I used the following instructions: http://www.nibs.com/PelikanNibsAvailableForCusto.htm Pen should be well cleaned. |

So the part that has the threads that go into the barrel is just a ring
that slips off? |

It's totally unnecessary, and by mucking around like that, you run the risk of misaligning the nib when you re-assemble the pieces or worse, inadvertently widening the feeder ring thus resulting in a loose fit and wobbly nib. Somebody else mentioned using a "knock-out block" type thing to remove the feeder ring. Although that'd be the best way to do it, you can just slip the ring off with your fingers (hold the ring and push the back of the feeder toward the nib tip). --- B |

Just a Point of Clarification.
1 There is a RING that fits OVER the NIB and holds it onto the FEED (the threaded part is part of the feed). 2 As for removing the nib from the feed; I believe you are correct. There is usually no reason to do so. Disassemble only if the flow needs adjustment, or you have experienced SITB or mold and need to do a thorough cleaning. 3 If it isn't broke don't fix it. Ken. Hi Ken, I don't have a Peli here with me, but I believe the feeder ring is the threaded part (the outside of the ring threads inside the section). The ring friction fits over the feed. The feed itself has no threads. -- B |
