Default unsticking self-stick stamps

Hello all,
Can anybody suggest me the best way to remove paper from self-stick
stamps? I've read that lighter fluid works very well in most cases, and it
was good up until now. Some recent self-adhesive U.S. stamps I've received
on letters are almost impossible to unstick without breaking them even after
several hours, if not days, submerged into lighter fluid. So i have tried
turpentine as an alternative because it is also an organic solvent, but in
some cases it is useless too.

best regards,
Pedro

Hello Pedro,
I think it now a common decision to leave self stick stamps on their
backing.
Just cut a neat square with border around the stamp, and mount with backing.

Rodney is correct, particularly concerning recent stamps from the USA.
They have a special security adhesive which will not dissolve easily.
Just keep these on paper.

Perhaps also pertinent Pedro,
especially with Spanish Framas, I think they have
a semi circular punched split in the stamp to discourage removal.
I remember I saw it in Tracy's scan, and thought it was a hair!

That depends very much on the issues. I agree with recent US and Aussie
issues - but German and French, can bee pilled off easily in a decent
waterbath. Whereas the Spanish Framas should noch get into contact with
water too long - or you will get a clean and neat piece of white paper.

Pedro,

the Dutch self-adhesives - that started in 1995 - just fall off by
theirselves after some time! At least all the 1995-1998 stamps do come off
the covers when you simply touch the covers

groetjes, Rein

P.S.

Do you have any info for me on the Tu Sello project?? Not just the
official P.O. info-site of course...

Use ethanol -- denatured alcohol from the hardware store works fine.
I have not encountered a US self-adhesive stamp for which this fails.

Hello Rein,
Haven't heard of it. Is it a customized stamp project or something like
that?
