Thanks, PU among my favorites is to get "color copier paper" or "color laser paper" and line it with very faint, fine lines. Pretty cheap at about $8 a ream. Not as convenient as a notepad for some folks. Standard bubble jet paper is okay but not as nice. I have been using HP color laser paper - 96 brightness and 28lb. It doesn't feather and has very little show-through (none for most inks/pens). Yet it doesn't resist ink either - it is designed to "take" the water-based inks of colour copiers or laser printers and not bleed. If you find a paper like this that you like but would prefer a tablet, you can get your own paper bound in various ways by many of the copy shops for not a lot of $. Lots of folks like Gold Fibre papers or Ampad's Embassy. They're okay but I found the Embassy paper too variable in terms of feathering and such - one page was great, the next near useless. Still, they're cheap and it depends a lot on what sort of ink you're using as well as weather your pen is a dry writer or not. I use wet writers and dark, intense inks. Quink or some of the vintage inks might work just fine on these tablets. I would stay away from the ultra-cheap pads. just my .02 |

Anything decent at regular office supply stores?
Hi,
I'm new to the fountain pen world, and I've recently picked up two pens: Waterman Charleston and Waterman Phileas, based on looks and recommendations here and elsewhere. I've also ordered some highly-recommended stationary from Pendemonium. I'm wondering if there's any decent paper (or other supplies) to be had at discount office places like Staples, OfficeMax, or Office Depot. Anyone? Thanks, PU |
