Faber Castell silver plated pen
Hello Group,
I am a newbie in the world of pens. I just bought a Faber-Castell silver plated ball point pen. The salesperson said I should polish it with a cloth every now and then. My question/concern is with regards to the silver plating. How durable is it? Should I go with the Sterling silver (other than the obvious disadvantage of the higher cost). Thank you! |

Hi Rambaldi,
Get what you like, and get a silver polishing cloth. I now have sterling silver, and gold-plated pens. Polishing takes a few minutes, but it is worth it to have what I like. As for cost, always look for sales. I think Chuck Swisher (www.swisherpens.com) sells the Faber-Castell line. Enjoy, and welcome to the world of pens! satrap reward yourself |

I have a Caran d'Ache Ecridor. Silver plating without surface treatment will
oxidize and turn into a dark colour. It looks horrible. If the finish is pristine, wax it immediately. Regarding Sterling Silver, if the higher cost is within reach, go for it. It is a worth while investment. It will last longer than just Silver plating of course. -- Best regards, Free Citizen http://www.freewebs.com/fpnet/ "Rambaldi1444" wrote in message om... Seriously, I've got a sterling silver pen that I'm interested in protecting from tarnish and, being lazy, I'd like to reduce the polishing frequency. -- ~~Bluesea~~ Spam is great in musubi but not in email. Car and furniture wax contain volatile substance that may react with silver.
