Seeburg smc1
I just bought a Seeburg smc1 Disco. The guy I bought it from had
already spent 300 bucks on getting the amp redone, but still no sound. I have looked all over, but haven't found any loose wires yet. I cannot pick records with the keypad, but can get them to manually load. The keypad just shows 10 credits all the time. On service it will show what record that I manually get it to pick up. The amp pops when you hook up power, but that is the last sound you hear, unless you get really close to the record and hear it play straight off the needle. Anyone know what this could be? I hate thinking I am going to have to re mortgage the house to get this thing to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Scott |

I hope that you didn't spend too much on it!
I just sold a near mint, rebuilt one of these for $750.00. Actually it was an SMC2 with the rotating disco ball, but basically the same box. As far as the sound goes, check the wiring from the tonearm. and check the muting circuit. It's more than likely a problem with the muting. Next buy a new cartridge and needles. As far as selecting goes, hold the credit switch over and press "99" on the keyboard. That should put it into free play so that you can check the mech and selector without having to worry about problems with the credit system. wrote in message ... I just bought a Seeburg smc1 Disco. Sorry if I ****ed in YOUR cornflakes, dude!
Are you the guy who sold it to him or something? I just didn't want him to throw good money after bad by dropping a ton of cash on a juke that isn't worth more than a grand tops! Like most others in this hobby I got hosed on my first juke purchase, and would have liked for someone to have told me what a United model 100B was worth before I stuck $2,000.00 into it! Unfortunately there wasn't any internet (for the general public anyway) 25 years ago. I offered him some advice on figuring out the problem. Did you? "Mattrock1" wrote in message ...
