What's the problem with Web T.V? I use it & it works o.k. by me for the
internet. I also have a Dell that I use for when I work but not for the
internet, I just don't want to pick up a lot of crap & Web T.V. is
highly protected. Why would someone care, one way or the other what
others use???

If you back up the thread, you'll see I agree with you completely.

Keep talking. Let's hear about it. Let it all out. Ooooooh that feels
good!

PC, don't feed the trolls.

Right. My bad.

Bear in mind that the concept of `troll' is in the eye of the beholder
and that those who claim `troll' can also be perceived as being trolls
themselves.

You're not `bad' but then again.......are you always good? :-)

Dave Hinz certainly isn't bad in my books for daring to express his
viewpoint, especially since `opinions' were specifically requested. He
was on topic as far as I can see.

Sometimes the opinions of others can be a tad unpalatable, especially if
they are contradictory to what we want to hear. When Dave's other posts
on coins are taken into consideration I can't see how anyone can say
that he is either a `troll' or `trolling'. Sure, he can appear a bit
`nippy' on occasion, but hey....can't we all. ;-)

I'm not suggesting that you all kiss and make up, but i'm pretty sure we
can all do without any more oil being added to the fire. It only serves
to make you all look like a big bunch of plonkers.

plonk indeed.

Hmmm. I use a real newsreader, have a broadband ISP, pay for a
premium NNTP service, my PC is a Xeon dual processor 3.4 GHz with 3 Gb
RAM. But, I am personally aquainted with a couple people who's only
internet access is WebTV. These people feel no need for a real
computer and WebTV serves their limited internet needs just fine. To
me, their opinions are just as valuable as anyone elses'.

Yes, but Linux users enjoy dual superiority.

Besides, Dave Hinz is an hostile spirit, or as I think the OP put it,
"passive-aggressive". I simply dropped out of a two-way with him when
I came to the realization that discussion wasn't his interest ... but
rather WINNING was. Well, I don't mind being proven wrong when I am
off base ... that's part of life and learning. But, some people feel
any conversation should be a duel. I have no interest in talking with
people like that.

Actually, that is what makes him the most fun.

In legal terms however no response indicates an agreement.

I am reasonably confident that you don't know what assent means in
legal terms.

I researched whether or not "Silence implies assent" and here's what I
found:

US Circut Court of Appeals, Opinion 00-2306:

"...silence does not ordinarily imply assent, see Polaroid Corp. v.
Rollins Envtl. Servs., 624 N.E.2d 959, 964 (Mass. 1993); see also W.
Hovey & A. Koenig, 16B Mass. Prac. § 62.1, at 180 (4th ed. 1999)"

http://www.law.emory.edu/1circuit/ma...-2306.01a.html

Apparently silence does imply assent in cases where the silent party is
made aware of what's going on. For example, had you told the customer
directly - face to face or over the phone, silence appears to imply
assent. Leaving a voice mail or sending an email that they might not
get until two weeks later doesn't seem to satisfy this.

If this wasn't the case, I could send you letters saying i'm going to
stop sending payments for a car I purchased from you. You didn't get
the letters because you were out of town? Hey, silence implies
assent, doesn't it?

Right. Which is why I offered him a refund. Which you conveniently
snipped.

Sure, I snipped it. So?

Anyone who wants to hear your side of the story by reading my post is
making a mistake. Most people seem to understand that, and read YOUR
POST to get your side of the story. It's not as if I deleted your post
from USENET.

Not trying to stir up any trouble are you?

You're kidding, right? Shouldn't you be waving a broken beer bottle at
me when saying that?

Nippy? Like an ankle biter? hehe.
Anyway, I'm just reacting when I used the derogatory label, as he once
referred to me as a troll. I am every bit as opinionated ... some
might say it is my worst trait. However, I lack the Republican
aggressive spirit. I'm just too laid back to pursue a knock-down drag
out ... even if I am convinced I am correct. I know too many people
who can argue convincingly for the most absurd concepts.
