Default Received in Change

Today, I received a 50-cent Kennedy, 1995, P, in very good condition. What
is unusual is that it is the first 50-cent piece I have received in over 15
years. I got it at a Houston, Texas, tollway. The toll used to be $1, but
was recently increased to $1.25. Tendering notes, one gets three quarters
or a quarter and a Kennedy.

They also give out Sacs from time to time.

A few years ago, I got a half dollar in change from the parking ramp at
the MBTA's 'Quincey-Adams' station. It was $1.50 to park for the day.

For giving change for oodles of identical transactions like that, things
like 50¢ coins are very handy and time-saving.

When I used to take the tollway, I bought tokens for 75¢ each at the
Randalls on Kingwood Dr. I guess inflation caught up with the tollway I
wished I had kept one as a souvenir now. I never bothered to collect the
three or four quarters you needed to travel the tollway though. The nice
thing about the tollway was having to pay once in a journey, and not having
to stop every few miles and feed another quarter or so. I also remember
that the tollway was much easier than having to take 610 or 290.

I'm just surprised that there are any '95 halves that have circulated enough
to be worn down to VG condition!

For now, I'm just trying to get this to work!

Those of us living near casinos are not at all surprised! ;-)

Some of my recent finds in rolls from the bank:

1944 Canadian Nickel, I don't know the grading scale, but it looks in
fairly good condition for the age

1942 & 1945 silver nickels.

1928, 1936 & 1937 buffablo nickels, The dates are still easy to read,
they are VG and F.

1964 D silver quarter in VF conditon, got this one from a change
machine.

Two 1939 nickels

Various wheat pennies and other pennies including a 1952 canadian, a
1980 penny from Bermuda with Elizabeth 2 on the obverse and a pig on
the reverse, and a few dated 1867-1967 with the bird on the back.

Around here, we have a couple of recycle centers that consistently use 50¢,
SBAs and $2's.
