I don't have a bar but I did attach two half moon 'bar' tables to the
wall near my pool table. I have two stools at each table. It definitely makes a great place to place drinks and mostly just the people playing pool use them. Before I got the wall tables, people were using my 2 pins to hold their drinks...I hated that. I usually just set up a few coolers of beer around the room to keep everyone refreshed. |

Are you kidding me!
A bar is great for a gameroom. I have my bar outside of the gameroom in a larger room where I also have a fireplace, Poker table, and enterntainment unit (TV, Stero, etc. Everybody has fun in the gameroom and when they are thirsty for a cold beverage you don't have to run upstairs to get a refill. It's also a place where people who don't want to play pinball or video can relax or take a break. "Keith Stelter" wrote in message ... Ok, For the last 15 years I've had a finished basement PACKED with Pinball machines, videogames, jukeboxes, skee ball machines, etc.. They are literally almost touching, and there isn't one square inch of space for anything else. We've reached a point where our kids are getting older we don't play the stuff as much as we used to. We've also realized that having 10 or 12 jukeboxes in a row doesn't really work because kids play them all at the same time! Anyway, I'm looking at moving some of my machines out and using that space for some more practical stuff like a game table for poker, a pit group and TV, and possibly a bar. My question is do you people who have bars in their rec rooms actually use them (people sit at them), or are they just a waste of space that no one uses? On one hand the idea of having friends sitting at the bar drinking and bull****ting sounds great. But then again I can see people just walking up to the bar to get a drink, and then going back to other activities. I don't foresee having a true bartender on hand other than myself as needed during a party. Right now I have an old, chest type Coca Cola machine that I fill with beer and pop during parties, and it's completely self serve. My buddy and I both have bars in our gamerooms and they get used all
the time at parties (liars dice, TV, Cards, mine has a megatouch). I couldn't imagine having our gamerooms without them. Of course, our friends are all drinkers. I say go for a bar and you won't regret it. I doubt our parties would be half as fun without them.... Sometime I go out and sit at it to watch the games when my kids are dominating the living room too. "I love this bar" "Bob E." wrote in message ... My bar was already built-in here when I moved in (no sink, though). It holds an aquarium and the computer I am typing these words on! You should look for one of those folding bars that Rockola made in the 50's, just get it out when you need it...cool retro look too! --Bob ================================================== ===================== Bob Ellingson Halted Specialties Co., Inc. http://www.halted.com 3500 Ryder St. (408) 732-1573 Santa Clara, Calif. 95051 USA (408) 732-6428 (FAX) |

I finished my basement and built a (snack) bar that has the sink and
fridge. The bar top is one foot wide and is four foot long with a two foot L turn. It has been two years and I have yet to have someone sit at the bar. I also had to cover my sump pump and I made a buffet area out of it. If I were to do it again I would make a built in fridge under the buffet and a not have the sink. The only time I use the sink to wash my hands of all that black pinball dust and dump ice. I could have had enough space for two more pins if I would have thought of it before. Robert Hooked |

I built a wet bar in my last two houses (built into a wall cabinet).
We NEVER used them. The house we have now had a big wet bar in the Family Room when we moved in. What a waste! It took up so much room, collected junk, and was never used. I removed it, redid the room and installed a big entertainment center. Much better! Marv |

I can only speak for myself and my fellow brewhounds who hang around my
basement, but the bar down there is the *main* area people hang out. It's a real good size, wet, and complete with an under counter fridge and keggerator (know around these parts as "The Craiggerator"). Here's a pic: http://www.themuffster.com/images/basementbar.jpg My pins are against wall just to the right of where this pic was snapped from,. To the left is my home theater room, complete with a digital projector which produces an 8' diagonal screen viewable from the bar and GREAT for football! Craig "Keith Stelter" wrote in message ...
