Blue-ink fanatics might be interested in perusing "Pale Intrusions Into
Blue: The Development Of A Color", by Hannah Rose Mendoza, a Master's
thesis that traces "the development and use of the color blue in
Western Europe and the United States."

It's a fascinating if heavy read, but you can always just look at the
pictures, which include striking examples of many different and
attractive -- in some cases, stunning -- shades of blue from nature and
art.
