EBay fraudster gets ass kicked on Judge Judy
EBay's bad reputation just gets worse and worse, if today's episode of
Judge Judy is any indication. The plaintiffs in the case were a mother and daughter who had thought they'd purchased two Motorola RAZR cell phones on two different eBay auctions. The respondent was a fat blonde self-righteous bimboid by the name of Kelly Filkins, who along with her brain dead dry waller husband, was out to make a fast buck through fraud. The husband, an obvious coward, didn't show at the hearing, claiming he had to "babysit," leaving her similarly brain dead wife to take the drubbing in front of ten million viewers. Here's the fraud: The auction, as was shown on the program, showed an ad for the cell phone, complete with specifications and a couple of pictures of the item. The fraudster put "what you see here is what you get." OK, so far, so good. Then, after closing, the fraudster printed out the picture and specs, shoved them into an envelope and sent them to the winner bidder! The bidder said she tried eBay at first, which as we all know is useless in trying to reign in fraudsters (unless you build a fire under them), to no avail. A phone call placed to the fraudster's husband was revealing. He said he wouldn't do anything, and told the bidder "thanks for the shoping spree!" before hanging up. Once the fed up bidder decided to take the case to national TV on Judith Schiendlin's show, however, eBay got off their ass and immediately banned the fraudster's account. The attitute of the fraudster was amazing, however...she didn't feel that she needed to explain anything to anyone, including the judge, and felt that sending pictures of the phone satisifed the auction! $470 for two piece of paper with pictures of a cell phone isn't fraud? What the hell's the matter with criminals like this...bad upbringing, mental disease, drug abuse...what?? More importantly, what the hell's wrong with eBay, allowing such scammers to continue perpetrating these felonies without even as much as cancelling the fraudster's account? Once the threat of even more bad press surfaced though, they were quite quick to cancel the fraudster's account...and only then. And, as illustrated by their flimsy defense in the Tiffany case, eBay doesn't feel they're responsible at all for fraud and other crimes taking place on their site! I think it's time to start spreading the word...eBay is a front for probably millions of petty thieves, selling every kind of counterfeit, bogus merchandise imaginable. They had better be careful that they don't get their account suspended for being "potential troublemakers". Ombudsman Superiour -- Are you a business person cheated by Ebay? They claim they are no more responsible that the highway department is for providing roads used by robbers in the night! I think that gradually the laws will come to define some levels of responsibility for ebay, craig's list and the like. |

EBay fraudster gets ass kicked on Judge Judy
Remember the iron rule: every eBay decision is based on what makes
more money for them. Simple here. If they banned someone making $450 a pop, the FVF fees for that seller would evaporate. They were probably substantial. So....eBay decides to do nothing based on the complaint of a single buyer. Once the scum's scam became public, though, eBay would lose customers and goodwill if they let them keep their account, thus losing many other potential sales and the income from those sales. It was a net profit to ban that single seller. So....eBay decides to shut down a scammer when it becomes general public knowledge. eBay may have a lot of thieves, and has lost its vision as a person-to- person environment, but it is still viable, still the auction site of choice, and still provides perfectly good selling/buying experiences for almost everyone. |

Thus stealing further from the buyer. The whole damned eBay scheme is to fleece buyers. And if buyers dont cooperate in being fleeced and pay, then eBay sets strikes against the buyer. UN****ING BELIEVABLE! eBay is nothing more than legalised extortion. klm |
