Interesting link, Dag, thanks!

"Collecting stamps is not as popular as it used to be. The decrease in the
number of subscriptions with the Official Philatelic Service indicates that
the once broad-based movement of stamp collectors has shrunk significantly.
In addition, the postage stamp trade is now largely confined to rare stamps,
while recent stamp editions are no longer sold by traders. In 1982, the
Official Philatelic Service still counted 92,724 subscribers who regularly
received the newest Liechtenstein postage stamps. Since then, the numbers
have diminished steadily, with a dramatic decline especially after the turn
of the millennium: In 2004, only 48,335 subscribers remained. The downward
trend is illustrated by the fact that cancellations of subscriptions are
four times as high as new subscriptions.
The decrease in net profit from the stamp trade is also dramatic. In past
decades, revenue from the sale of postage stamps constituted a considerable
share of the State budget. In 1997, net profits were still 6 million Swiss
francs, diminishing continuously to about 1 million Swiss francs by 2004. In
the 2005 fiscal year, the estimated profits amount to approximately 350,000
Swiss francs."

This means that the profit shrank in the last 8 years to about 6 per cent
when compared with the beginning of the period. The consequence is clear: in
several years kiss good bye the nice Liechtenstein stamps, like those on:

I fear that as well, but as Liechtenstein still makes a net profit, I hope
they will continue issuing stamps like the one you are referring to (also
more princely stamps, please!). Another matter if stamps as we know them
have a future at all?

I hope too.

Your question is surely pertinent. I have an answer to it, but personally I
don't like it, so that I won't elaborate this time.

One reason is also that Tracy isn't here (for the moment, as I deeply hope)
to contradict me.
