Thumbs down rock-ola 494 at the end of the record problem

o.k guys when it rains it pours, every 3 or 4 records at the end of the song my juke will just just keep playin and the last part of the song over and over instead of finishing out and putting the record back in the magazine, but if i hit the cancel button everything works fine and it puts the record back its kinda like the last few word was on repeat

Adjust, clean (if a blade switch), or replace the cancel switch that is
driven by the tone arm...

I do not recall the credit unit ssytem on the 494, if electromechanical
(wheel stepped up/down by relays) then simply bend the step down lever
out fo the way of the wheel so it no longer engages the wheel when it
activates. It does have to trip some switches to write-in the selection
so you are simply defeating the ratchet down process.

If electronic - well, I'd need the manual to check on that. Probably a
jumper wire will do the job, but it has to be correct or damage might
result...or it could be a switch.

I think it has that controll center with the buttons that you
have to set credits to 99 for free play

The 494 uses the S2 control Unit. Free Play is easily programmed for
here. Download the S2 Operating Manual from here for instructions.

There are other 494 manuals at that previous URL. The mech manual is
there. It has tone arm adjustments outlines. There is a stud with a
nut that will set the setdown of the tone arm. It is also used to
adjust for clearance of the gripper, so be careful when adjusting.
The stylus should clear the gripper by minimum of 1/8 inch. Another
thing to check is that the tone arm is not binding up on its hinge
