Americover 2007 Piles Up The Numbers

In a three-day World Series of Philately show, Americover 2007 will
see two bourses, one U.S. first day ceremony, more than 17 seminars,
about a dozen society and club meetings, 27 dealers (most of them with
first day covers, but not all), two society auctions, 160 frames of
FDC exhibits, three evenings of "hospitality suites," two off-site
social events, and hundreds of FDC collectors.

Americover 2007, the annual first day cover show and convention
produced by the American First Day Cover Society, is being held at the
Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa in Connecticut, August 17-19.

Here are some other relevant numbers: fourth-largest; 52; 25 miles; 13
miles; $99; zero.

Stamford, the Nutmeg State's fourth-largest city, is 25 miles from New
York City, an easy trip up Interstate 95, Amtrak's Northeast Corridor,
the Metro North Railroad's New Haven line or Greyhound. (The Marriott
is convenient to both the rail and bus stations.) Stamford is also 13
miles from the White Plains, NY, airport.

There's a special Americover room-rate at the Marriott of just $99 a
night, compared to at least $129 and up for others.

One more number that's often of interest to stamp collectors: $0, as
in "free." Admission to the show is free. The Marriott has a free
shuttle to the train station.

Among the groups holding meetings during Americover 2007 are the
AFDCS, the American Ceremony Program Society, the American Society for
Philatelic Pages & Panels, the Art Cover Exchange, the American
Philatelic Society, The Virtual Stamp Club, the American Association
of Philatelic Exhibitors, the Connecticut Cover Club, the Cachet
Makers Association, and the AFDCS' 7-1-71 Affair Chapter.

The commercial dealer bourse is the largest gathering of FDC dealers
for the year, while nowhere will more current cachets be found than at
the Cachetmakers Bourse Saturday evening.

The new "Celebrate!" stamp, which replaces "Happy Birthday," will make
its debut on Friday the 17th at Americover 2007.

In addition, this year's Legends of Hollywood stamp, James Stewart, is
being issued on the same day in Burbank, Calif. With the new
nationwide release policy, the Stewart stamp should be offered for
sale (and postmarking) at Americover 2007 in Stamford.

This is the AFDCS' 52nd year, and the AFDCS donation auction will
feature at least 52 lots of unusual and interesting first day covers.
The ACPS will also hold an auction.

The (1) Grand Prize winner of the Americover 2007 exhibition will
compete in the APS' 2008 Champion of Champions competition.

To obtain the special $99 Americover room rate, call the Marriott
reservation line at 888-236-2427 or the hotel directly at
203-357-9555, and specify "Americover." The online discount code is
"afdafda." The deadline is August 1st.
