UK £100 Note?

Can anyone tell me if a £100 bank-note was ever issued in England?
I know one was in circulation in Scotland,but what about England?

Back in the days of the "White Notes" they were. Beginning in the mid
1940's all notes above £5 were withdrawn because of counterfieting fears
resulting from the discovery of the "Operation Bernhard" notes printed by
the nazis during WWII. Higher ie £10 notes etc were not released again
until the 1960's when inflation resulted in their being necessary.

FYI there is(was) an authentic £100 note on eBay recently, you might find a
link in this NG.

£100 Notes have been issued in Scotland and Northern Ireland pretty much
continuously, the nazis knew better than try and duplicate a Scottish note.
