Postage rate step integration
I have heard some scuttlebutt, that certain countries
are currently considering merging the first two steps of the postage rate scale. (i.e. 0 to 20 grams and 20 to 50 grams). I would expect that such a change would involve some discussion with the UPU , if it involves the international mails. Does anyone here have any information about this in their own or other countries? Blair |

Postage rate step integration
Belgium has done so 15 (?) years ago... introducing standard sizes for
the covers, etc.. Calling it "normaal", before they introduced "prior" and "non-prior"! Now all is "prior" [!] and you pay more buying a single inland rate stamp [69c] than when in blocks of 10 [10x59c]. groetjes, Rein Op Wed, 19 May 2010 18:10:49 +0200 schreef Blair (TC) : I have heard some scuttlebutt, that certain countries are currently considering merging the first two steps of the postage rate scale. For International Mail (first step is 0 - 50 grams) if your letter is NOT "normal" (ie standard size) then you pay a MINIMUM of the 100 gram rate (ie TRIPLE the basic rate), even if it only weighs 10 grams.
