US Commemorative Forever Stamps, Yes or No?

I have learned from Linn's Stamps New 5/17/2010 that the Postal Regulatory Commission Chairman Ruth Y. Goldway has urged the Postal Service to make all commemorative stamps forever stamps "to stop their sagging sales". The nondenominated Liberty Bell forever stamp has become the best-selling one, "seriously eroding sales of both commemoratives and Flag definitives". IMO, a typical result of the law of unintended consequences. What is your opinion, should USPS issue Commemorative Forever Stamps? A. Yes B. No C. Britain has been doing just this for some time now, I believe, although not all their commemoratives are nondenominated. It had nothing to do with my vote, but Ruth Goldway is originally from my home town of Santa Monica, California. Bill |

Agreed, all stamps should be "forever" stamps. Either that or make it mandatory that the USPS cannot raise rates more than once every five years at bare minimum. -- //Steve// Steve Silverwood, KB6OJS Corona, California, US |
