Default Weak dollar bodes well for New York International Numismatic convention

There should be a very good turnout of collectors and dealers from
Europe
at next months New York International Numismatic Convention in a buying
mood
due to the very favorable exchange rate.

Why should it bode well, the coins'll be more expensive. Besides, they never
have all that many affordable coins there anyway. The "junk boxes" are always
from American or Canadian dealers and most of the European dealers just have
ancients or gold.

I'll be there because I've always gone there, and there's always SOMETHING.
It's been better the last couple of years, but still...

the 2001 show had almost nothing affordable.

Back in the '80s and early '90s, there was lots of wonderful stuff and I had a
huge collection from that, but now...there's always hope.

to continue....

I like to collect "contemporary" stuff, and there's almost never any there
except for a couple of dealers who I always go to first....but the european
guys almost NEVER had anything contemporary prior to the first year of the
euro...apparently they thought that since they were available cheap over on the
other side of the ocean, they were easy to get here.

The very few who had new stuff were usually swamped.

oh, well....

OK, I take it all back. The convention will be a COMPLETE FAILURE
and should be cancelled immediately. (smile face here).
