That is the perfect example of eBay fee avoidance. The auction is now over,
without a bid, but if it had been brought to eBay's attention, eBay would
likely have ended the auction early.

For that P/H, it better be a hooker with a lot of extra frosting on the
cake. Sorry.

MY TWO CENTS about shipping and if ebay was MY STOREFRONT, [I am sure that
is the case for many people..]

MY LOGIC SAYS. When you list and sell a coin [or anything] ebay fees really
add up. [that is the me, the accountant speaking] so I would put ANY COST
of shipping, into my shipping & HANDLING fee .. why pay ebay fees on your
shipping costs ?? High volume sellers for instance, they probably pay
someone to ship, someone to run to the post office .. etc etc .. The cost
has to be included some place, be it opening bid or shipping and handling .
So I say, put the TRUE COST of shipping in shipping .. YES? NO?

Hmm.... maybe. I would like sellers
who do this to explain it in detail
in the listing exactly what the buyer
is paying for in "shipping" costs.

When a coin comes with 75 cents
postage on it and they paid $3.50
for shipping you can see why
people have questions.

Happy to hear that someone at least understands my logic .. Where you say,
"the seller should explain..." I have given that some thought..

D.JAEBY LOGIC: When I go to McDonalds and they charge me $2.50 for an order
of fries, I would never say it, "I could buy a ten pound bag of potatoes
for what you charge for your large fries." Nor would I say, "would you take
$2.00 for the fries ??" McDonalds isn't there to feed me as if they were my
parents, they need to cover their costs and make money too.

Same for coins and coin stores .. There have been times where I questioned
the price the owner wanted to charge for me for something. I said, "I can
buy that token on ebay for $whatever." and he said, "well then, buy it ..
in fact .. buy one for me too !!" He has store rent - electric - phone etc
to pay, so his sales have to absorb those costs .. ALL OF THEM .. PLUS he
needs to make a buck. I look at ebay as a virtual store .. and the volume
sellers are using ebay rather than renting a shop .. Another example would
be a computer. I looked at a computer once from Dell I think .. Good price
for the computer .. warranty etc .. and then shipping was like $100 or more.
It doesn't cost $100 to ship a computer .. but there is no negotiating ...

As for the "power seller" coin people on eBay .. I have read here or maybe
on ebay discussions where people were saying this or that about those
sellers. At first I agreed .. then I thought, this "power seller" did all
the footwork, shopping stores or shows .. my old ebay seller boss had to
travel - fly or drive - to shows. Ever see what they charge at the Fun show
for a booth ?? You gotta recover that or whats the point ... He was the
buyer in some cases, and the seller in others .. If he paid $10 for for a
coin .. paid to have it graded .. paid to fly or drive to the show where he
purchased it .. Buyers pay for those costs .. they pay for his coin smarts
too .. Like when you buy software, you pay for the brainiacs who wrote the
program, not the cost of the disk, label and cd case .. Dell sells a
computer for $whatever and the shipping is over $100 .. it doesn't cost that
much . there is no negotiating.. buy it or don't buy it ..

Whenever I think about requesting a special price for something I on ebay ..
I stop myself - I don't have to buy from them .. I could go from store to
store looking for the best price .. but I choose to shop ebay and/or online
stores .. Today - the BEST shopping day of the year for Christmas, my
daughter-in-law was getting up at 5am to be at Walmart when their "day after
thanks giving" sale begins at 6am .. NOT ME .. I will pay a little more and
shop ebay or Toys-R-Us on-line for my grandkids. NO WAY will I be part of
the insanity today.

OK .. I will shut up now. smile
