seeberg makes strange sound
my seeberg is whirring and humming and it doesn't have the same amount of
bass as it used to. anyone have any idea what i should look for? tube? needle? thanks much. |

Replace the capacitors in the amplifier.

The amplifier is only on when the record is playing, and muted otherwise.

Watch the arm while listening to the speaker. If the hum does not start until the needle contacts the record, and stops
immediately when it lifts off at the end, then it could be motor rumble which is a mechanical problem with some of the rubber vibration isolators. On the other hand, if the hum starts before the needle contacts the record, and remains audible after the needle lifts from the groove, but stops when the arm goes to the rest position, then the mute circuit is turning the amplifier off, and the problem is electrical. -- Crazy George Remove N O and S P A M imbedded in return address "mcnews" wrote in message ink.net...
