Seeburg 222 not loud enough

The amp is rebuilt with new caps and tubes but it is not very loud ,
same on both channels . I went through and tested all the resistors and
tried a different cartridge . is there a common problem on these . This
amp is very complicated .

The 222 was not a very loud machine as I recall... I did have some
success by disconnecting the negative feedback resistors (they connect
from the speaker side of the the left and right output transformers to
the grid or cathode of one of the corresponding sides' interstage
tubes) - this raised the volume somewhat but did add a smidgen to the
distortion.

Try disabling the "AGC" see if that raises volume...GC
